Kano state is extending lockdown by one week, to further combat the spread of coronavirus.
The Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said in a statement on Tuesday that the decision was reached after consultations with the Federal Government and stakeholders in the health sector.
This was to reduce person to person contact, he said.
Confirmed cases of COVID19 in Kano is rising fast, with almost 700 infections, the second-highest in the country after Lagos.
Death toll stands at 32 persons.
The commissioner called for patience and support as the battle against the pandemic continues.
