Federal Government has extended the ban on all flights for another four weeks.
Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Boss Mustapha stated this at the daily briefing of the task force in Abuja.
He said the decision came after an assessment was made by the PTF based on the advice of experts in the industry.
Also, Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika said the sector looses about N17bn monthly to the ban on flights.
He said the Civil Aviation Industry was the worst hit in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which was rated as the fastest growing sector in the country by the National Bureau of Statistics before the Coronavirus outbreak.
Senator Sirika however noted that the sector may take awhile to get back to full operation even after the pandemic due to overhauling of the airplanes and equipment at airports.
