Kogi worries over plan to import COVID-19

Kogi State Government has expressed fears over an alleged plot to import COVID-19 into the state by some persons determined to enlist the state among COIVD-19 states.

A statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo says an expatriate lady working with an organisation in the state called the State COVID-19 squad with the claim that she was exhibiting symptoms of the pandemic.

The Incident Manager who is also the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Haruna, led a team of medical experts to assess the situation to ascertain if the alleged symptoms qualifies to be COVID-19 as regarded by the NCDC but did not see any of the signs.

“The temperature readings fell totally within normal range and she did not exhibit any of the other symptoms which by the latest NCDC guidelines ought to have paired her nonexistent fever to necessitate further tests for COVID-19″.

Mr Fanwo assures Kogi residents of Governor Yahaya Bello’s determination to prioritise their health.
