National Lottery Trust Fund has donated an Isolation Centre with medical equipment for the treatment of COVID-19 at General Hospital Daura in Katsina State.
At the launch of the facility, Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume said the donation was an expression of federal government’s commitment to containing the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
He noted that the Isolation Centre which was equipped with five ventilators, five beds, thermometers, drugs, and personal protective equipment for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 will serve both Katsina and neighboring states.
In his speech, Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, Bello Maigari explained that the COVID-19 isolation centre was set up sequel to five incidents and one death due to the virus in Daura, and the subsequent lock-down of the town to contain its spread.
“The essence of our intervention is to deliver a world class intensive care facility, well equipped with ventilators and Personal Protective Gears which are now urgently required to protect our health care professionals and treat Nigerians that have contracted the novel Coronavirus”.Mr Maigari said
The COVID-19 Isolation Centre was handed over to the Katsina State government, in his speech at the occasion, Governor Aminu Bello Masari appreciated the donation which will provide people of the state access to COVID-19 treatment.
Governor Masari urged Nigerians to observe personal and environmental hygiene and obey the stay-at-home order in affected parts of the country in order to prevent community transmission of the virus.
