Federal Government says it has commenced registering and capturing beneficiaries for the Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT programme in Lagos and Ogun States.
Minster of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq at the daily Presidential Task Force briefing on COVID-19 said these states were not initially in the Cash Transfer programme.
According to the Minster, the states were however benefiting from other social intervention programmes like the ‘Trader Moni’.
Hajiya Sadiya said, palliatives would also be provided for people with special needs and informal workers to help alleviate their sufferings in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic.
President Muhammadu Buhari had during his broadcast on Monday directed that the current social register be expanded from 2.6 million households to 3.6 million households in the next two weeks.
President Buhari added that a technical committee was currently working to that effect and would submit a report to him by the end of this week.
