National Emergency Management Agency NEMA has commenced the distribution of relief items to thirty-six thousand households to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Maiduguri and other liberated communities.
In a statement made available to Radio Nigeria, Principal Information Officer NEMA North East, Abdulkadir Ibrahim said the food items were part of the palliative measures put in place by the federal government to cushion the impact of COVID-19.
According to the statement, the two months food ration would be distributed to all IDP camps in Maiduguri and displaced persons in Jakana, Mainok and Beneshiekh in Konduga and Kaga local government areas of the state.
Mr Ibrahim added that more palliatives are underway to the state from federal government food strategic reserve to be distributed to IDPs and other vulnerable people.
Borno state has over one point five million displaced persons housed in twenty-three official camps and host communities.
