Delta State Governor, Doctor Ifeanyi Okowa has confirmed the second case of COVID-19 in the state, saying the patient died after been admitted to the isolation centre.
Governor Okowa via his verified Facebook page said investigation revealed that the patient had visited Lagos two weeks ago and that the case was presented late to the facility.
According to the governor, the patient presented himself to the facility with severe symptoms including difficulty in breathing and was given the necessary attention by healthcare professionals, but passed away shortly after the specimen was taken.
Governor Okowa said his test results confirmed that he died of COVID-19.
Efforts on contact tracing would be intensified to stop the spread of the dreaded coronavirus as quickly as possible, the governor added.
