Katsina State has recorded its first case of COVID-19, a medical doctor resident in Daura who returned from Lagos last week
The state governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari told newsmen that the patient, Dr. Aliyu Yakubu, also died of the virus at the Airforce Reference Hospital in Daura.
The governor said Dr Yakubu had previously been diagnosed with hepatitis and hypertension, adding that samples from the National Centre for Disease Control indicated that he died of COVID-19.
He said a medical response team was combing the neighborhood where the deceased resided to identify and quarantine people he interacted with after his return from Lagos.
Isolation centres have been prepared to quarantine many people, governor Masari added.
