5 more patients, two males and three females including a 10 year old girl have been discharged from the Lagos State Isolation Centre in Yaba after consecutive tests showed that they are coronavirus free.
Governor Sanwo-Olu who revealed this in a statement, also announced the death of a patient, bringing the number of deaths caused by virus in Lagos State to 2.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said people need to remain steadfast and aggressive to curtail further spread.
He advised Lagosians against stigmatising discharged patients.
Governor Sanwo-Olu warned youths engaging in sporting activities, to desist as such acts could jeopardise the intention of the lockdown.
“We will do our best to make sure that other patients at the facility receive the best of care and attention so that they can return home to join their families and the community soonest” the Governor said
In the meantime, the state Biosafety Level-3 Laboratory has been activated for COVID19 testing
This brings the number of COVID-19 testing labs in Nigeria to 9
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, which made this known on its website said other laboratories in Maiduguri, Kano, Sokoto, Port Harcourt, Jos and Kaduna are in progress and would be activated as soon as they are ready.
