Governor Rotimi Akeredolu says Ondo state has recorded its first case of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the index case is a uniform personnel who travelled into Ondo state.
Akeredolu who announced this on Friday via his Twitter handle revealed that the state government received the report from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shortly before he made the announcement.
He urged the residents of the state to stay calm, adding that the government has put necessary measures in place to identify all the contacts of the patient.
According to the governor, the government is working closely with the NCDC and the infected person is in a stable condition.
We have just received confirmation of our first positive #COVIDー19 case in Ondo State this evening. The infected person is currently under isolation and will be monitored. The announcement was made 48 hours after the State Government ordered closure of all its borders.
