Journalists in Adamawa State have been charged to disseminating factual information on COVID 19, to avert the spread of the disease.
Secretary to the state government who doubled as the state chairman COVID 19 contentment committee, Bashir Ahmad during training on covering and reporting COVID 19 in Yola, said an isolation centre has been established in the Adamawa/German hospital.
He said the state was adequately ready to manage any cases, saying the isolation centre has four ventilators and 1231 personal preventive Emergency (PPE) kits.
He urged media practitioners to ensure credibility and accountability in their reportage and avoid misguided information.
The state commissioner for health. Professor Abdullahi Isa, said ambulances would be provided in each local government area to ease referral in case of an outbreak.
The state chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, who is also the chairman journalists against preventable diseases in the state commended the ministry of health and partners such as WHO, UNICEF in preventing diseases outbreak and pledged the union’s support in the fight against COVID 19.
