Following the confirmation of COVID-19 positive case in Benue State, the Government has closed all entry points into the state beginning from Wednesday this week.
Similarly, the movement of people has been restricted from seven pm to six am starting from Monday with the exception of those providing essential services.
Governor Samuel Ortom who gave the directives today in a Special State Broadcast said public gatherings such funerals, marriage ceremonies and community festivals have been suspended till further notice.
Governor Ortom directed commercial vehicles travelling in and out of the state as well as those travelling within the state to submit manifest of their passengers which must contain names, phone numbers and residential addresses to appropriate authorities.
He urged all commercial vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles to provide hand sanitizers to their passengers and adhere strictly to the Government guidelines on the number of passengers they can carry at a time.
The Governor explained that the stringent measures were considered as necessary sacrifices that the people must make to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and assured that they would be reviewed as the situation demands.#
