Governor of Niger state went into self isolation on Wednesday after attending same event with Bala Muhammed, his Bauchi counterpart who was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Bauchi governor was in contact with the son of former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who has been diagnosed with COVID19.
Both Bello and Muhammed had attended the meeting of the Nigeria governors forum on March 18.
Niger governor’s spokesperson, Mary Noel-Berje, said the decision was based on the directive of the NGF.
The forum had directed those who attended the same event with Bauchi governor to embark on self isolation.
Noel-Berje said his family would also be tested for the virus.
Nigeria now has 51 cases of the virus with 1 death associated with it.
Lagos, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria, has continued to initiate stringent measures to curb spread.
