Fire service urges Nigerians to stay safe

The federal fire service has called on Nigerians to maintain the highest level of alertness as they observe the stay at home advisory by the government in its bid to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

The call was made known by Controller Abdulganiyu Jaji at an event to mark the national fire safety week in Abuja.

Controller Jaji stressed the need for parents and guardians to monitor their wards to avoid all forms of domestic accidents including fire outbreaks.

Controller Jaji also advised the people to be mindful while applying hand sanitizers as some of the germ killers contain inflammable chemicals that can trigger fire breakouts.

Our Correspondent reports that this year’s fire safety week was a low key as only a handful of Journalists and fire officers were present in compliance with government’s order against large gatherings to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.
