Kwara State Government says it will go on lockdown from 6am on Thursday 26th of this month as a preventive measure to combat the spread of Corona Virus.
According to the State Deputy Governor and Chairman of Technical Committee on COVID-19 Mr Kayode Alabi, while addressing newsmen, all motor parks, public transportation including motorcycle, tricycle and taxis are banned from operation effective from Thursday morning.
Mr Alabi added that all social gatherings are banned forthwith and that churches, mosques and all religious gathering remain closed.
He however noted that only those selling essential commodities are allowed to operate stressing that eateries (fast food sellers) are to sell take away to their customers.
The Deputy Governor who called on residents to remain calm, gave an assurance that security measure have been put in place to ensure compliance with the directive and sanctions anyone caught operating to the contrary.
