Court of Appeal affirms Senator Ubah’s victory

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, has affirmed Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party,YPP, as the Senator representing Anambra south Senatorial District of Anambra state.

In a unanimous judgment of a three-man panel of Justices led by Justice Stephen Adah, the appelate court held that the lower court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter in the first instance.

Justice Adah agreed with the appellant, the FCT ought not to have entertained a matter which originated from Anambra State.

The appellate court also awarded a cost of two hundred and fifty thousand naira each against the first and fourth respondents in the case.

The FCT High Court had on the 11th of April, last year, sacked Ubah for allegedly submitting a forged National Examination Council certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission in support of his nomination as a candidate for the February 23, 2019 senatorial election.
