NOA restates positive attitude towards govt policies

The National Orientation Agency has urged Nigerians to develop positive attitude and values towards government policies and programs, which have been identified as building blocks of development anywhere in the world.

 The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency,  Dr Garba Abari made this known during the North Central launch of a program tagged “Communicating Government Policies,  Programs and Activities ” held in Ilorin Kwara State.

  Dr Abari who was represented by the Niger State Director of the NOA, Alhaji Yahaya Gbongbo said there is a dire need for people to be educated and sensitized on policy direction of government and be effectively mobilised to defend the nation’s integrity.

  The NOA Director-General pointed out that government decisions such as ground border closure, value-added tax review, digital economy, recent reduction of petroleum pump price and restriction of flights from 13 countries ravaged by COVID-19 are all in the interest of the people.

 He said that the agency will continue to perform its mandate of engaging Nigerians from time to time through various forums including those at the grassroots.

In a lecture on COVID- 19, the Chief Medical Director, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Professor Muhammed Yusuf advised members of the public to bear in mind that prevention is better and cheaper than cure hence the need to practice personal and environmental hygiene.

The Kwara State Controller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mrs Edith Onyemenam said that there has been massive registration of immigrants in the state before the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria and assured the gathering that they will not relent in carrying out their duties.

Earlier, the Kwara State Director of the NOA Mr Olusegun Adeyemi said that the program which is focused on health and environment is in line with the agency’s mission to consistently raise awareness,  provide timely and credible feedback and mobilise citizens to promote harmony and national development.

The highlight of the event was the question and answer session by participants on in some government policies and programs.
