WAEC to build 1000 seater examination hall in different states

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, is to build a one thousand seater examination hall and a Computer Based Test centre in all its permanent Office Complexes across the country.

This is to bring WAEC services closer to the people, maintain the integrity of its examinations and provide a world class examination facility for its operations.

The Head of the National office of WAEC in Nigeria, Mr. Olu Adenipekun made this known in Osogbo at the foundation laying of WAEC permanent office complex, Examination Halls and Computer Based Test Center in Osogbo , the Osun state capital.

Mr. Adenipekun said that part of the reasons the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, decided to establish its permanent offices in every state of the federation was to eliminate loss of man-hour and hazards of Nigerians travelling out of their base to other states to transact business with WAEC.

He stressed that the increase in the number of candidates sitting the West African Senior School Certificate examination diets and the responsibility of releasing results of candidates on time had made the West African Examinations Council, WAEC to widen its scope of operations by investing heavily in Information and Communication Technology, ICT, thereby building CBT centres in its offices.

Speaking on the permanent office complex, one thousand seater examination hall and a Computer Based Test centre of which the foundations had been laid, Mr. Adenipekun said that the project would be completed in eighteen months.

In a remark, the Governor of Osun State, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola commended WAEC management for citing the permanent office complex, one thousand seater examination hall and a CBT center in Osun state.

He said that the construction of the buildings will enhance the efficiency of WAEC staff in the state and ease examination administration as well as tackle examination misconduct significantly.

Mr. Oyetola however, gave the assurance that the Osun state government will support efforts being put in place by WAEC to preserve the integrity of the school certificate examination of Nigerians

The Osogbo High School cultural dance troupe added colour to the event.
