The Minister of Interior, Mr Ruaf Aregbeshola says the upgrade of the Federal Fire Service, FFS, by the present administration has transformed the FFS to a globally competitive and efficient organization.
Mr Aregbeshola stated this at the fifth regular FFS graduation ceremony in sheda Abuja.
The Minister of Interior, who reviewed the parade, advised the two thousand, two hundred grandaunts to be mindful of the daunting task ahead of them.
He gave an assurance that the present administration would ensure the FFS become one of the best in the world.
The Controller General FFS, Dr Liman Ibrahim appreciated the efforts of the minister in revamping the service for optimum performance.
“Mr President approved the recruitment of over two thousand, two hundred firefighters, and procurement of ninety six modern fire fighting vehicles, the service has taken delivery of forty modern fire fighting trucks, fifteen water tankers of ten thousand liter capacity, two modern mobile workshops, one emergency rapid tender, and eight rapid intervention vehicle. The honorable Minister would be commissioning six newly delivered modern firefighting trucks, ten additional have arrived Apapa port and awaiting Custom clearance, the CG said”.
The Commandant National Fire Academy, Controller Tijjani Abbas called on the grandaunts to be professional in their duty in line with the training they received from the Academy.
Some of the grandaunts expressed joy for the successful graduation, and promised to give back to the society.
The ceremony was attended by heads of paramilitary agencies and representatives from the Army headquarters.
