The Speaker House of Representative, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila has says that the National Assembly is open to suggestions from Nigerians on the best ways to tackle the menace of hate speech and fake news.
Mr Gbajabiamila made this known at the Media Conference on Hate Speech Bill and Media Regulation Bill organised by the AIT, in Abuja.
Represented by the Chairman, House of Representative Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Value, Mr Dokun Odebunmi said there was a need to address the challenge of hate speech and fake news in Nigerian society.
According to him, nation-building is a joint task for everyone, therefore called on the organisers to ensure sincerity of purpose in aggregating peoples views.
He added that all Arms of Government need public support hence the need for more town hall meeting on all issues of national interest.
