The Nigerian Police Force has advised the General public to avoid taking law in their hands.
Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 3, AIG Alhaji Abubakar Gwandu gave the advice during a maiden meeting with the state Commissioners of police under the zone on Tuesday in Yola.
He emphasised that people should always report any suspected insecurity matter to the nearest police post for immediate intervention rather than taking the law into their hand.
Alhaji Gwandu said the meeting with the three-state Commissioners of Police under the zone was to strategise on how to tackle the insecurity issues in the area.
The AIG directed the three Commissioners of Police to evolve a robust strategy to frustrate any criminal activity and to do everything possible to protect lives as well as property in the state.
He enjoyed the media and other relevant stakeholders to support the zonal command to discharge its responsibility effectively.
Zone 3, comprises of Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba states.
