The Federal Government has charged Lotto Operators across the country to increase its remittances to enable revenues generated from the Industry, meet the socio economic needs of Nigerians.
The Minister of Special duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume gave this charge in a meeting with Lottery Operators in Abuja.
Senator Akume said lottery business has grown to a multi-billion naira Industry and government was ready to harness the wealth in the Lottery industry for the economic development of country.
He therefore urged them to be innovative by developing games that would excite Nigerians.
The minister revealed that some operators are indebted to the Federal Government from 2007 to 2017 and appealed to them to clear their outstanding debts to enable government plough back into the economy.
He maintained that the Federal Government was making progress against all odds in the provision of rail transportation, Power, road construction and the Social Investment Programme.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr Festus Daudu said that the essence of the meeting was to find ways government could tackle the challenges faced by operators.
The Director General, National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila and the Executive Secretary National Lottery Trust Fund Dr. Bello Maigari, called on the operators to collaboration with them as the funds accruing to both agencies are utilized for good causes across the country.
