Constitution guides FG position over Amotekun- AGF

The Federal government says the establishment of any regional security must be in line with law and constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Speaking on the Politics Nationwide a Radio Nigeria Network Programme which focused on the regional security network, Amotekun, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr Malami Abubakar explained that apart from legality, the command structure and control of Amotekun should be taken into consideration.

Mr Malami said that the country was operating a single command structure urging any state or region willing to operate a unilateral security arrangement to follow the law and the constitution.

The Attorney General maintained that the region must dialogue with the federal government right from the planning to the execution of such structure and warned that unilateral security arrangement in the region without recourse to the constitution would not be tolerated.

Some contributors to the programme including Andrew Ajayi and Jude Ugbaja supported the establishment of the Amotekun as away to check the activities of Bandits, Kidnappers and killers in the country.
