The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha says the Buhari Administration will continue to support the maritime sector to grow the economy for the overall good of the Country and all citizens
Speaking in Lagos during the weekend at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA’s annual dinner and awards ceremony tagged the ‘Night with Maritime Stars’ the SGF who was Chairman of the occasion noted that opportunities for the nation’s economic growth and development rest on the sector.
The SGF said “Government will continue to support the maritime sector because on it rests opportunities for wealth creation and economic growth,”
Mr. Mustapha who pointed out that Nigeria moved to the 131st position from 170th in the World Bank ease of doing business index since President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council in July 2016 expressed optimism that with the current ongoing efforts especially in the Maritime sector, the Country would move higher in 2023
On industry stakeholders and staff being appreciated during the event, the SGF who heartily congratulated the award recipients noted that the milestones achieved in the sector couldn’t have been possible without them.
He urged them not to rest on their oars and advised those who are yet to be recognised to continue to put in their best.
While welcoming guests to the event, NIMASA’s Director-General, Dakuku Peterside explained that the since the institution of the award three years ago, the perception and image of the agency had been positively transformed.
Dr Dakuku who reeled out the Agency’s numerous achievements attributed the stellar performance to the commitment of NIMASA’s staff and support from Stakeholders and reiterated that under his leadership, examplary efforts would always be recognised.
One hundred and eighty one staff of the Agency bagged long service awards for 15-30 years of service, with Mrs. Constance Omagbemi getting the coveted Employee of the Year, while eight awards were given out to companies and conglomerates for best operating standards.
The event which was attended by the Governors of Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Plateau, Niger, and many prominent players in the Maritime sector was spiced with eclectic performance by the sugar band, Omawunmi, Kiss Daniel and Burna Boy.
