The Bayelsa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Monday Udoh-Tom says over ten thousand ad-hoc staff will be deployed for the November sixteen governorship election in the State.
Mr Udoh-Tom who stated this at a News Conference at the INEC Headquarters in Yenagoa said already the ad-hoc staff are being trained on the effective handling of smart card readers to be used in the two thousand, two hundred and forty-four polling units.
He explained that out of the 923,182 total registered voters, 889,308 have received Permanent Voter Cards with just 33,874 registered voters yet to collect their PVCs.
The Bayelsa Resident Electoral Commissioner said INEC had learnt some lessons from the last general election and has taken measures to improve on the November 16 governorship election.
Mr. Udoh-Tom gave an assurance that the commission would thrive to ensure the conduct of credible, free and fair polls.
