The Nigerian police force Kano command says it has arrested one hundred and twenty four suspects for various offences before and after the Independence celebrations.
The commissioner of police in Kano Alhaji Ahmed ilyasu stated this during a media briefing held in Kano.
He said inline with the Inspector General of Police directives on Operation Puff Adder and community Policing, the Command has recorded tremendous achievements after setting out new Community Policing Strategies and engaged the Community in all aspects of policing in the State.
The commissioner maintained that Recently, there was public outcry in Kano for some five years back about reports of Missing Children.
He said as a result of the commitment of the Command’s Tactical Teams of Operation Puff Adder A syndicate perpetuating this heinous act was busted and Eight suspects that specialized in Kidnapping, Concealment and keeping in Confinement Kidnapped Persons, Buying and Selling of Minors and Trafficking in Persons were tracked and arrested.
Commissioner Ilyasu noted that Nine Kidnapped victims were rescued at Onitsha in Anambra State, saying All suspects have confessed to their offences.
He noted that Ten Trafficked / Kidnapped victims were rescued,Eight (8) Trafficking / Kidnapping Suspects were tracked and arrested.
The commissioner further stated that four Kidnappers were arrested and the sum of One Hundred and Twenty-Four Thousand Seven Hundred Naira was recovered from them after collecting the sum of One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira as Ransom.
While fifteen Assorted types of assault rifles were also recovered.
