Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has tasked Chairmen of Internal Revenue Services across the country to prioritize drive of improved Tax Collection System.
Governor Abdulrazaq who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi gave the task while speaking at the North Central Geopolitical Zone official flag off ceremony for the New National Tax Identification Number, TIN Registration organized by the Joint Tax Board, JTB in Ilorin the Kwara State Capital.
He described Tax Payment as integral to the growth and development of every economy which must be embraced by every working person who wants to see improvement especially in infrastructure across the country and commended the Joint Tax Board for what he described as laudable initiative.
The Governor expressed optimism that the launch of the National Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) Registration System and Consolidated National Taxpayers Database would increase coverage of the Taxpayers and simplify Tax Process across the North Central Region.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mr Babatunde Fowler who is also the Chairman of the Joint Tax Board explained that the new TIN Registration System is geared towards reinforcing laudable efforts of the Federal Government towards building a robust tax-revenue administration system for the country.
Mr Fowler noted that in the last four years, economic policies of the present administration had focused on establishing a stable foundation for further socioeconomic growth and development and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his achievements.
He also commended the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service for executing far reaching IGR reform and for becoming the only state revenue agency in Nigeria certified with ISO 90001 for quality management system and ISO 22301 for business continuity management system.
Also speaking, Executive Secretary of the JTB, Mr Oseni Elamah said the new registration system would enable taxpayers have easy access to the system once they are connected with the internet anywhere in the world.
