Tribunal upholds Ganduje, Lalong elections, rules on Sokoto

The Sokoto State Election Tribunal has affirmed the victory of Aminu Tambuwal as governor of the state.

The tribunal on Wednesday dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Mr. Ahmed Aliyu for lacking in merit and inability to establish non-compliance.

It also resolved the allegations of non-compliance with the electoral act in the conduct of the election against the petitioners for failure to prove same the evidence of the petitioners’ witnesses, especially witness number 10 is hearsay evidence that cannot be given any value in court to prove any of the allegations

Similarly, The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano on Wednesday upheld the victory of the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The tribunal declared that the petition of the main opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Abba Yusuf, challenging the victory of All Progressives Congress (APC) lacked merit.

Chairman of the three-member panel, justice Halima Shamaki, in a judgement read for over 3 hours at High Court, in miller road, Kano, dismissed the PDP’s petition seeking the nullification of Ganduje’s victory in March 9 governorship election.

President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates Kano and Plateau state Governors, Abdullahi Ganduje and Simon Lalong as tribunal’s upholds their victories.

Also, Plateau State governorship election petition tribunal has upheld Governor Simon Lalong’s election.

The governor’s election for the second term was challenged at the tribunal.
