Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged Nigerians to embrace selflessness and sacrifice to rebuild the country.
Governor Okowa stated this at an inter-denominational thanksgiving at the Cathedral Church of Saint Peters Anglican Church, Bishops court, Asaba, to mark the country’s 59th Independence Anniversary.
The governor who emphasised that the building of a nation required the participation of all, said the process should begin at homes, with the rebuilding of the family structure where parents could direct children aright.
Governor Okowa called on Nigerians in the Diaspora to be part of the re-building of the nation, challenging them to emulate Prophet Nehemiah in the Holy Bible.
He congratulated Nigerians and urged them not to be despair despites the prevailing challenges confronting the country.
The governor insisted that citizens must fast and pray for God to turn around the situation in the country.
In a sermon; the Anglican Bishop of Asaba, the Right Reverend Justus Mogekwu, urged leaders to look up to God for wisdom to govern the people as he decried the prevailing hard times in the country, saying Nigeria is not where it should be.
Special prayers were offered for the country .
