NARD urges members to uphold medical ethics

The Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors NARD has urged it’s members serving in public health facilities to be more dedicated to duty in line with ethics of the medical profession.

National president of the Association, Dr Aliyu Sokomba Made the call in a communique after a Three-day meeting of the Association in Kaduna.

Dr Aliyu who said it was against the ethics of the profession for members to engage in private practice when employed by the government, however, called for proper remuneration of Medical Doctors so as to stop the practices.

He said the Association had observed with concern the manpower shortage and poor working condition of its members calling on the federal government to come up with a comprehensive approach to address the problems, especially at the nation’s Tertiary health facilities.

Dr Aliyu Sokomba has called on government’s attention for provision of adequate security in the country explaining some members of the Association have been abducted by hoodlums during or after work.

The NARD president also affirmed commitment to full implementation of a Twenty Seventeen Memorandum Terms of Agreement with the Federal government for the benefit of all.
