The House of Representatives says it will provide the needed legislation and increased funding for troops in the front-line prosecuting the war on insurgency.
Chairman House adhoc committee on the plight of IDPs and humanitarian activities in the country, Mr Igariwe Enwo made this known during a visit to the theater Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Olusegun Adeniyi at the Command and control centre, Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri.
Mr Igariwe explained the purpose of their visit was to access the condition of IDPs in Borno state following a motion raised by Mr Zainab Gimba representing Ngala, Bama and Kala Balge federal constituency on plight of IDPs in the area.
According to him, their visit to the commander was also to appreciate the sacrifice of the armed forces in the fight against terror and identity ways to improve the operation to ensure sustainable peace in the region.
The leader of the delegation stressed the need for synergy between the national assembly and the military to address the challenges.
Theater Commander Operation Lafiya, Dole Major General Olusegun Adeniyi maintained that the troops are willing and committed to fight and end the insurgency.
He added that the theatre is expanding its Operation to ensure IDPs return to their communities in a safe and dignified manner.
The committee was also at Gubio road camp where the interface with the displaced and assess their condition.
