The President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Saa’d Abubakar wants politicians to initiate policies that will entrench co-existence in the country.
Alhaji Saa’d stated this at the special public lecture to mark 59 years of Nigeria’s proclamation of independence from British rule on October 1, 1960.
He called on the government to partner with stakeholders to protect the youths, whom he said as leaders of tomorrow.
The lecture precedes a Jumaah prayer, where thousands of Muslims will converge on the Abuja National Mosque to seek divine intervention as Nigeria celebrate 59 years of independence on Tuesday.
With the theme “Peace Co-existence for national Growth and Development”, President Muhammadu Buhari will be the special guest at the event.
An interdenominational church service will take place on Sunday at the international Christian centre.
