Kaduna state government has signed a memorandum of understanding with a private airline ‘Quorum Aviation’ as alternative means of air transportation services from Kaduna to Abuja.
The Executive Secretary of Kaduna state investment and Promotion Agency, Hajiya Umma Aboki signed on behalf of Kaduna state government while the Managing Director, Mr Lukman Abiola Lawal signed on behalf of the company.
Malam Elrufai believed that the amount of traffic on Abuja – Kaduna road and rail justifies the need for signing the MOU as he expressed gratitude for the confidence the company has in Kaduna state government to commence shuttle air service from Kaduna to Abuja.
Governor Nasiru Elrufai called on business people in the state to utilise the opportunity by patronising the airline as he assured of the state readiness to support the airline in ensuring smooth operation.
In a remark, the Managing Director of the company, Mr Lukman Lawal said it is imperative to provide airlines service between Kaduna to Abuja especially due to so many reasons.
According to Mr Lukman, the company is planning to make Kaduna state the base station for their operation, and also to further establish Kaduna as a regional aviation service hub.
He noted that, the MOU would go a long way in creating jobs and attract more investors in the aviation sector in the state.
Mr Lawal however explained that, the airline operation would be a great compliment to the train services currently running between Kaduna and Abuja.
He gave an assurance that, the airlines would commence operation before end of the year.
