The Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, RATTAWU says concrete steps will be taken to ensure discipline and loyalty of members for a strong union.
The National President of RATTAWU, Comrade Kabiru Garba gave this indication in Abuja while receiving a report of the disciplinary Committee set up to look into cases of indiscipline within its ranks.
Comrade Garba stated that no union could pursue the cardinal objectives of security welfare and protecting the right of its members without transparency, disciple and unity.
He assured that the report would be looked into with a view to implementing it to install sanity and discipline in the union.
On the lingering negotiation of the new national minimum wage, Comrade Garba criticized government for taking workers for granted, and said that if nothing was done to implement the new minimum wage, RATTAWU would declare an industrial action.
The Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee and Vice President of RATTAWU, South East, Comrade Emaka Kalu explained that the committee adopted internal conflict resolution mechanism as provided in RATTAWU’S constitution to arrive at its recommendations.
