Community raises alarm over child abuse

Some concerned neighbors living at number one, Pope John Paul Street, Okpuno in Awka South Local Government area of Anambra state have called on the commissioner of police in the state , Mr John Abang to urgently come to the aid of a sixteen year old girl who was being assaulted by her guardian .

The call followed an incident that occurred on Saturday where the accused neighbor used piston and shoes to inflict wounds on the house help.

The shout and cry of the sixteen year old female teenager caused the entire neighborhood to jump out from their flats with the aim of ascertaining what the mater was.

The victim whose name was simply given as Happiness who hails from Plateau state, Narrated that her aunt with whom she lives with used the heels of her shoes to hit her mouth before also using pestle to break her head because she did not inform her that their pap had finished.

With the blood covering her mouth and head, Happiness rushed out of the flat after her Aunt instructed her to pull her cloths off for further inhuman treatment .

One of the neighbours who spoke on the condition of anonymity, regretted that it was not the first time such incident happened as the woman had been in the habit of assaulting female teenagers who live with her.

Another concerned neighbour who also did not want her name mentioned narrated that a similar girl who lived with the same woman had attempted to jump from a two story building following inhuman treatment meted on her in the house by the woman.

An eye witness to the incident, Mr Darlington While calling on security agents to take necessary actions to avoid a bizarre story , also confirmed that a certain girl who lived with the woman jumped down from their flat after being locked up without food.

When Radio Nigeria Correspondent contacted the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, he directed the concerned neighbors to report the matter to Police B division in Awka for investigation to commence into the matter.
