Over 10 states on alert for flooding

The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency says a rise in the water level of River Benue may increase the likelihood of flooding in Adamawa, Taraba and Benue states.

Director-General of the agency, Clement Nze, said this at a press conference in Abuja.

He said water from six out of the eight countries that make up the Niger Basin Authority has arrived in Nigeria as at today, Monday.

The DG said the water will empty itself into River Niger, thereby leading to increased flooding in ten other states; Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa and Kogi, Edo, Anambra, Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa.
