The National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control is collaborating with Global Standard One, GS1, to eliminate substandard foods and medicines in the supply chain.
This is to be achieved through structures to track the manufacture, and distribution of all regulated products.
The Director General, NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye announced this in Abuja at a briefing ahead of the African healthcare conference in Lagos.
She said the synergy would enable the agency to eliminate substandard and fake medicines in the country’s supply chain.
The Chief Executive Officer, GS1, Mr. Tunde Odulami said the collaboration would help NAFDAC to revolutionise its supply chain for medical and other related products.
Mr. Odulami who highlighted the focus of GS1 to ensuring the safety of patients applauded the efforts of NAFDAC in transforming the Nigeria health care value chain.
