College set ablaze 3000 phones

Authorities at the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education in Owerri have set ablaze over 3000 smart phone allegedly used for examination malpractice.

Spokesperson of the college, Mr. Tony Ololo said the phones were seized inside examination halls.

He said most of it were seized 2 to 8 years ago and have been in the custody of the management pending a decision of the academic board on how best to handle the situation.

Mr. Ololo said the phones were set ablaze to serve as deterrent to students who cheat during exams.

The Chairman, examination misconduct committee, Dr. Ernest Onwukwe who handed over the phones for destruction said the college would not relent in its fight against examination malpractice.
