Motorists were stranded between Lafia and Akwanga road in Nasarawa State for several hours following blockage of the road at Gako village by broken down trucks.
Residents of the village said the road was blocked in the morning hours of Friday with no efforts by authorities to evacuate the vehicles to clear the road.
Some passengers coming from Lafia to Akwanga had to alight from the vehicles they boarded and resorted to trekking long distance to reach their destinations.
One of the motorists who spoke to Radio called on the federal and Nasarawa State governments to take measures towards expanding the road to ease movements as the blockade due to accidents or breakdown of vehicles in the area which has been a recurrent incident.
Other motorists expressed fears of any eventuality in view of the high rate of insecurity along the road.
At the time of filing in this report, only few officers of FRSC and three policemen in the convoy of an unidentified government official were seen having hectic times controlling the heavy traffic in the area.
