Minister orders NSCDC to protect SA businesses

The Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has ordered the immediate deployment of personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC to protect investments, locals and foreigners working in some South African businesses across the country.

The order which was announced in Abuja by the Commandant General NSCDC Mr Abdullahi Muhammadu said this was to forestall breakdown of law and order arising from reprisal in some parts of Nigeria following ongoing xenophobic by South African in their country.

The CG who expressed concern on the gradual erosion of relationship between Nigeria and South Africa called on Nigerians to exercise restraint not to further worsen the already tensed situation.

 The CG said though there was no justifiable reasons for attacking Nigerians living in South Africa, however Nigerians must allow the issue to be resolved through established diplomatic channels.
