The Federal Fire Service has expanded its operations with the establishment of six additional zonal headquarters.
The Zonal headquarters are located in Minna, Sokoto, Yola, Owerri, Asaba and Oshogbo.
The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr Liman Ibrahim stated this during a news briefing in Abuja.
Dr Liman said the establishment of the new zonal headquarter was to enhance their response to emergencies.
“These zonal headquarters are to be equipped with a minimum number of two states of the art firefighting trucks and manned by well trained and experienced firemen, the CG said”.
He announced that five additional fire service training schools will be established in Borno, Cross River, Kwara, Abia and Katsina States.
The Controller General, who expressed worry over paucity of fund, maintained that the agency under his watch had recorded some successes.
“Within this period of my appointment we have received and commissioned twelve modern fire trucks which are being deployed to the newly created zones, renovated the Nyanya fire station here in Abuja which covers suburbs of Nasarawa state, the CG said”.
Dr Liman however commended the present administration for supporting the agency to deliver on its mandate.
