NDLEA intercept illicit drugs in Kano

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano has , in one month, intercepted over 500,000kg of illicit drugs.

332.657 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 167.322 psychotropic drugs, 0.05 grams of cocaine and two gram of Khat, a drug imported from South Africa, were among seized substances, the commander Ibrahim Abdul told reporters at a news briefing in Kano on Tuesday.

He said more than 100 people have been arrested in areas including; Badawa, Kawo, Sabon Gari, Naibawa, Challawa, Madobi, Dan Zaki village, Kumbotso and Wudil.

However, statistic reveals a sharp decline in dealings in psychotropic substance abuse and trafficking due to what he considers “the command’s tremendous operation and intervention activities.”
