The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has called on the members of newly inaugurated Agro-Rangers to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in the discharge of their task of ensuring food security in the country.
The Assistant Commandant General of the corps in charge of Zone D, Muhammed Aliyu made the call while conducting the official Inauguration of the Agro Rangers as well as the decoration of 158 newly promoted officers of the corps in Ilorin the Kwara state capital.
Represented by Commandant Paul Kolawole Ayeni, the Assistant Commandant General said the task ahead of the Agro Rangers is enormous.
Mr Aliyu explained that the federal government diversification from oil to agriculture has brought a lot of attention to the area by criminal elements.
He said the corps was saddled with the responsibility of ensuring peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.
Mr Aliyu urged all the officers and men of the corps to ensure they discharge their duties diligently, as without peace in the farming communities the aim of attaining food security will be a mirage.
In a remark the Kwara state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Bello Ale advised the Agro Rangers as well as the newly promoted officers to remain committed to their duties at all times.
