An assessment team from the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA led by the Director Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Akugbe Iyamu has arrived Yola, Adamawa State on a spot assessment over the recent flood.
Air Commondore Iyamu, who sympathize with the flood victims at Bachure temporary camp in Yola South Local government area, assured them that quick intervention support would soon arrive the state
Other affected areas visited includes Saminaka, Wauro-jabbe, Jambutu area where the Director stressed government commitment to provide immediate intervention supports to the victims.
“We are here to sympathize with you and pray that such crisis will not happen again”.
Air Commodore Iyamu said the agency would embark on sensitization of people living in flood prone areas, discriving the flood as unpredictable disaster.
Earlier, the Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Crowther Seth said the quantum of damages and loses caused by the flood, led them to appealed with the federal government for support.
The Deputy Governor said the victims had virtually lost their means of livelihood, hence the need for governments and wealthy individuals to support them.
He urged the victims to exercise patients as they wait the intervention from NEMA.
