Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo says the federal government will expand its current Market Moni/Trader Moni interest-free loan scheme to cover more rural dwellers.
Prof Osinbajo made this known on Tuesday in an assessment visit of the loan facility at the Keffi old market, Keffi local government area of Nasarawa state.
He explained that President Muhammadu Buhari has given a directive that the Market Moni/Trader Moni loan programme would be extended to all the states of the federation.
According to Prof Osinbajo, the idea for the extension of the federal government’s Market Moni/Trader Moni to all the states of the federation is to make sure that the empowerment initiative of the present administration achieves the intended objective.
He, however, appealed to beneficiaries of the loan programme to ensure that they pay back the loan facility in order to pave the way for other persons to equally benefit from the programme.
Governor, Abdullahi Sule commended the federal government for taking the loan scheme to Nasarawa State which would, no doubt, contribute to the economic prosperity of the state.
Executive Director of the Bank of Industry, Micro Enterprise, Toyin Adeniji said three thousand beneficiaries were enrolled onto the scheme in the past three days.
