Over Sixty nine million Naira has been disbursed as the second payment to the poorest of the poor in Abaji Area Council of the FCT under the Federal Government Social Intervention Programme.
Head of the FCT state cash transfer unit, of the programme Dr. Luka Ayuba stated this during the disbursement of funds for the fourth tranche of payment in Abaji Area council.
Since Febuary this year, the FCT cash transfer unit under the social intervention programme, has been disbursing funds to the first group of the poorest of the poor in Kuje, Kwali and Abaji Area Councils.
Out of the 6,905 beneficiaries from these three area councils, 3,500 are from Abaji Area council.
Head of the FCT state cash transfer unit, Dr. Luka Ayuba explained that the programme had impacted positively in the life of the people.
Dr. Ayuba said the programme would be sustained to ensure that poor and the vulnerable people are empowered.
The fourth tranche of the disbursement was at Abaji East Primary school in Abaji Area Council.
One of the beneficiaries, a 28 year old Miracle Nathaniel explained that the money has improved her farming activities this season.
While appreciating government for the initiative, Another beneficiary, a 72 year old Zainabu Ahmadu who spoke through an interpreter in Gbagyi language explained that the money would be used for her upkeep.
For a 68 year Habiba Maman from Nuku community, the money would be used to sustain business and other family needs.
Mr. Mohammed Abdullahi who is one of the payment specialists for the programme, explained that measures are already in place for the money to be paid directly to the beneficiaries accounts.
