Contractor issues ultimatum for completion of Apapa rail

The China Civil Engineering and Construction Company, CCECC, major contractors handling the Lagos Ibadan rail line have been given one month to ensure the overhaul of the Apapa railway yard in Lagos.

The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi handed down the ultimatum at the Apapa station as he resumes monthly inspection of the Lagos Ibadan rail corridor, barely two days after his inauguration.

Mr. Amaechi said the CCECC had no excuse to delay work on the various stations meant to meet customers’ needs along the rail line, as they had been fully mobilised financially.

The Minister took a train ride from the Ebutte Metta station of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, to inspect the laying of tracks and ongoing work along the entire rail line.

He is been accompanied by the Managing Director, Nigeria Railway Corporation, Mr. Fidet Okhiria and the Board Chairman, NRC.
