Head of Service, Bauchi State, Alhaji Nasiru Yelwa, on Tuesday, says that the state has released N100 million for the payment of gratuity to retired civil servants.
Alhaji Yelwa, stated this in Bauchi while presenting cheques to some of the beneficiaries to mark the commencement of payment, Yelwa.
He said that N50 million each was released to the State Pension Board and Local Government Pension Board for the exercise.
He explained that the payments were being made to civil servants who retired between the months of August 2011 to October 2011.
Alhaji Yelwa said that priority was being given to families of beneficiaries who had died, with a view to alleviating their hardship.
He said that the exercise was being conducted simultaneously in two centers in the state.
The Head of Service promised that the exercise would be conducted monthly to enable government offset the accumulated gratuities owed retirees by the state.
