The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU and Non-academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, NASU is to commence a warning strike from Monday next week to press home their demands.
The Chairman, Joint Action Committee, JAC of the non-teaching staff in the Nigerian universities, and president of SSANU, Com. Samson Ugwoke announced this at the end of the unions emergency meeting in Abuja.
Com. Ugwoke highlighted the contending issues to include the non-payment of allowances, alleged refusal of the Federal Govt to restore their members that were sacked in some universities and non-compliance of govt with the court judgment over the university staff schools.
He expressed disappointment with govt over what he described as partial treatment of other unions in the university system, saying that SSANU & NASU would not accept the 20% allocated to its members from the fund released to unions in the universities.
He therefore directed its members nationwide to embark on protest and strike across universities in the country from the fifteenth of this month.
