Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba state has on Wednesday signed into law a bill that prescribes death sentence for kidnapping.
The Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu said the bill was passed by the state house of assembly.
The law is to contain kidnapping which is, today, a major concern in the state, he said in a statement.
Under the new law, anyone found guilty of abduction or kidnapping in the state will pay the supreme price.
In the past two years, more 20 persons, including government officials had been kidnapped from their homes and on the roads in Taraba.
